Event Description

Celebrate Nowruz, the Persian New Year, with the Persian Society! Enjoy Persian music, dancing, traditional sweets and snacks, and discover the beautiful Haft-Seen table. Everyone is welcome to join us for a fun and festive evening welcoming spring.

The Persian Society warmly invites you to celebrate Nowruz, the Persian New Year and the arrival of spring.

Nowruz is a tradition that has been celebrated for more than 3,000 years, marking a time of renewal, hope, and new beginnings. It is one of the most important cultural celebrations in Persian culture and brings people together to welcome the new year and the start of spring.

In times like these, when many people are carrying the weight of difficult events and conflicts affecting our region and communities, celebrating may not feel the same. However, Nowruz has always been a symbol of resilience, hope, and continuity, reminding us that even in challenging times, traditions that bring people together and celebrate life should continue to be honoured.

During the event, you will have the opportunity to explore the Haft-Seen table, a traditional arrangement of symbolic items that represent prosperity, health, happiness, and growth for the year ahead. Our members will also share the meaning and history behind this beautiful tradition.

The evening will include Persian music, dancing, and a welcoming social atmosphere, where everyone can experience the spirit of Nowruz together. Guests will also be able to enjoy Persian sweets and snacks while meeting new people and learning more about Persian culture.

Whether you are familiar with Nowruz or discovering it for the first time, we warmly welcome everyone to join us for an evening of culture, community, and celebration.

Note: You are also welcome to bring a plus-one from outside the university by purchasing a general ticket, so feel free to invite your friends and share the celebration with them!!!
