Jewish students are a valued part of our Students’ Union. At this difficult time, we want you to know that you are not alone. We also want to be clear that we stand firmly against antisemitism, as well as any other form of hate and intolerance.
We are deeply saddened by the attack at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Manchester during Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. Violence is unacceptable at any time, but for it to take place at a place of worship on such a significant occasion is especially distressing.
Jewish students are a valued part of our Students’ Union, and we are proud to have a Jewish Society (JSOC) within our community. At this difficult time, we want you to know that you are not alone. We also want to be clear that we stand firmly against antisemitism, as well as any other form of hate and intolerance.
We are working closely with the University to ensure support is available for anyone who needs it, and to help make sure Jewish students feel safe and supported on campus.
We encourage anyone who needs support to please reach out to any of the following resources:
External support
Community Security Trust (CST) is the charity that protects British Jews from terrorism and antisemitism. CST's dedicated Student Helpline gives immediate, real-time support to students across the UK who are experiencing antisemitism.
Student also have access to a 24/7 support service that is run by a team of mental health professionals.

If you have been affected by the recent conflict there is academic support available to you. It is important to let your course tutor know if there are circumstances that may affect your ability to perform in your assessments and exams.
We are thinking of you, we stand alongside you and we are here if you need us.
