We're delighted to announce the results of our October 2026 Elections, which saw an overall turnout of 1060 total votes from 455 individual voters.
Hannah Mason, Deputy Returning Officer, said:
“I can confirm that the Students’ Union has conducted a free, fair, and transparent election process. Throughout the election period, we received one complaint, and after a review, no further action was required.”

As no candidates stood for various Academic Community Representative roles or the LGBT+ Liberation Representative role, voting did not take place. These positions will instead be elected to during the 2027 Elections.
What these roles will do
Academic Community Representatives
The Academic Community Representatives will work with the School Reps to create positive change. They’ll build working relationships with the senior staff from their school to support and deliver campaigns that improve the student experience, as well as working with Course Reps, to escalate feedback and major issues, ensuring students voices are heard.
Liberation Representatives
Liberation Representatives will represent a community of students who have historically faced barriers and underrepresentation through their academic journey. They’ll make sure their experiences and views are heard across the University by representing their community in key decision-making-spaces including our Students' Council and Students’ Assembly. They'll also represent their communities nationally within the National Union of Students (NUS).
