Thank you to all the students who came along to our Student Assembly and Annual Members’ Meeting last Tuesday.

It was great to hear all your experiences around our four campaign areas of: Accessibility, Cost of Living, Timetabling and Placements and we’re proud we’ve had students join our campaign groups, including:

  • 16 pledges for Accessibility
  • 12 pledges for Cost of living
  • 11 pledges for Timetabling
  • 10 pledges for Placements

These pledges will be worked on by you – our students – with your ideas being brought to key decision makers in the future.

So if you haven’t signed up to one yet, you can do so here:

The assembly also saw more proposals suggested than ever before with five being discussed and then approved, including:

  • A multi-instalment tuition fee payment plan to ease financial burden on international students
  • A disabled students’ commitment
  • A neurodiverse friendly approach supporting all neuro types
  • A review of the representation structure and practices in the SU

You can read these proposals in full here, or watch the videos embedded in this article:

AMM Proposals 2026

We as a Union also proposed amendments to Byelaws 3, 4, 6 and 7, which will see changes to how you’re represented, supported and how the Union works.

The biggest change is probably the introduction of Liberation Reps for marginalised groups, but there’s a lot more you can read up on here:

AMM Motion to Amend Byelaws

Everything agreed at the meeting will now go to our Trustee Board where we’ll decide how things move forward and we’ll share an update as soon as we know what the plan is.

We'll be sharing a round-up of all the fantastic accomplishments your Students' Union Reps shared in an article soon, though you can also see the Rep updates in full here.
