The final achievement week of the year is right around the corner which means one final revision effort before summer.

Achievement week begins on the 23rd of May and is an opportunity for students to have a break from lectures and to allow time for out-of-class studies.

For those with work still to do (we know many of you have finished already), we sympathise the run-in can be tough and finding the best revision tricks is a challenge.

Here are some simple yet effective tips to help you:

Time management

Creating a structured schedule is important to maximise focus and a balance between study and leisure. Schedules can be created on calendars or planners, with techniques such as ‘25 minutes on, 5 minutes off’ being useful to avoid burn out.

Environment

Picking a suitable location to study is one of the most important aspects. Your environment should have no distractions and be separate from your relaxation area, creating a distinct divide between study and rest. Your study area should be comfortable and have all the necessary equipment.

Revision style

Picking a style of revision that works for you is crucial. Some enjoy using flashcards which are versatile as they can be used for quizzing and learning new information.

Others enjoy teaching. This can be useful in a group setting as teaching someone else your revision means you have to be well clued up on your learning.

Practice papers are a great way to expose yourself to how the information will present itself in exam form. Most practice papers can be found online and are free to use.

Group Revision

Remember, everyone is in the same boat as you! Your classmates will be off during achievement week too and prioritising study. You could make use of some of the University’s study spaces and take the pressure off with your pals.

We want to wish all students a pleasant achievement week, and we hope these tips have been helpful!
