Welcome to the Marrow Society!

University of Lancashire Marrow is one of over 50 student-run branches of Anthony Nolan, a national charity that runs the UK stem cell register. We recruit potential stem cell donors to the register, in the hope that they will one day be a match for someone with blood cancer in need of a lifesaving transplant. We also do important fundraising for Anthony Nolan, to allow them to carry out their ground-breaking research and support patients and their families. By joining University of Lancashire Marrow you will not only gain an array of professional skills but will be directly finding lifesaving matches for people with blood cancer.Marrow is a fantastic opportunity to get involved with volunteering, meet new people, and become part of a massive community that works to save lives.

Throughout the year, we run donor recruitment events, signing people onto the stem cell register. Each person we sign up has the potential to give someone a second chance at life!

People with leukaemia and other blood cancers often need a stem cell transplant as a last ditch attempt at saving their life. However, 70% of people need an unrelated donor and it is difficult to find a match. One person may only have one match in the whole world!
To increase chances of finding a match, we need more people on the register, so come along to one of our events, fill in a form and do a cheek swab to potentially save someone's life!
