Welcome to the Marxist Society! ☭

Our aim is to bring together students and staff looking for radical politics on campus. As the world becomes increasingly unstable under capitalism, more and more young people and workers everywhere are looking for answers. Marxism is the only set of ideas that can really explain why poverty is on the rise while the rich grow richer, why there's a housing and public infrastructure crisis, and why there's a genocide in Gaza and Sudan - as well as provide the solutions.

Throughout the year, we've been holding fortnightly meetings on various topics to answer some of today's biggest questions.

Our second term meeting schedule is as follows:

  • 29 Jan US Imperialism: Hands off Latin America!
  • 12 Feb What Will Socialism Look Like?
  • 26 Feb Marxism vs Anarchism
  • 12 Mar Lessons from the 2011 'Arab Spring' Revolutions
  • 26 Mar Migration and Borders: The Communist Position
  • 23 Apr Will Britain Have a Revolution?

If you think we need to fight for a better future and want to find out how, join the Marxists!

Ongoing Student Group Elections

Medical Societies Committee By-Elections 2026

Every year, our student groups elect a new committee to lead their group into the next academic year. Being part of a committee is a fantastic opportunity to get more involved in the community at the University of Lancashire, meet new people, and develop valuable skills that will enhance your CV. You can run for a position on the committee, provided you are a member of your group. Students elected through this process will begin their role on 1 August 2026 and serve until 31 July 2027. Could you be the next leader of your group?

21 posts are up for election.
