Welcome to the Debate Society!

Join the Debate Society, a friendly and inclusive group that promotes critical thinking and public speaking through engaging discussions and debates. We meet bi-weekly for casual debates, where members can share their views and sharpen their argumentative skills in a relaxed, student-led environment. Whether you’re nervous about speaking in front of others or just curious to try something new, this is your space to grow. Each month, we host tournament-style debates that encourage research-based arguments on complex topics. Open to all students, regardless of background or experience, we offer a supportive space for diverse perspectives. We also plan fun socials, including quiz nights, collaborations with other societies and lots of other fun things on the way!

Ongoing Student Group Elections

Medical Societies Committee By-Elections 2026

Every year, our student groups elect a new committee to lead their group into the next academic year. Being part of a committee is a fantastic opportunity to get more involved in the community at the University of Lancashire, meet new people, and develop valuable skills that will enhance your CV. You can run for a position on the committee, provided you are a member of your group. Students elected through this process will begin their role on 1 August 2026 and serve until 31 July 2027. Could you be the next leader of your group?
