Union Priorities are the key issues the Students’ Union has chosen to focus on this year, based on student feedback.
What the challenges are
Our insights have told us that students are experiencing issues with:
What are we campaigning for?
We pushed for all nursing and healthcare students to be paid during their time on placements. When at placements, students are thrust into the real working world, supporting patients, services and communities whilst sometimes on a shoestring budget.
What have we done so far?
We supported and campaigned massively in May for the Pay the Placement campaign. We ran a Campaign Rep scheme where students were given the tools to be able to spread the word around campus to help force change. We did campaign walks around campus to let the masses know about the issues facing students and held events for nursing students to discuss issues they faced on placement.
How can students get involved
Interested students can join the Placement Action Group to continue to shape discussions and make improvements to this area of university life.
