Welcome To The Living History Society
University of Lancashire SU Living History is a medieval reenactment that aims to bring the history of 1066 to 1215 (that's the battle of Hastings to the signing of Magna Carta by the way) to life.
We run combat training sessions on most Sundays in Avenham Park from 11. In this we will teach you to fight in a competitive, dynamic and safe way with a variety of weapons, swords, axes, spears, clubs. We also do Archery. Plus, we organise craft sessions that allow our members to gain skills, such as making clothes (or "drapery"), acting (or "mummery") woodworking, leatherworking and anything else one could need. These craft sessions help you make the clothing, weapons and other bits and bobs you need to reenact life in the 12th century in a dynamic, energetic and accurate way at castles, parks and historical sites all across the country during the summer period alongside other branches of Historia Normannis re-enacting sieges, skirmishes and the life of a medieval army on campaign.
Sound like your thing? Come on down to a training session or find us on social media at https://linktr.ee/historianormannispreston

Every year, our student groups elect a new committee to lead their group into the next academic year. Being part of a committee is a fantastic opportunity to get more involved in the community at the University of Lancashire, meet new people, and develop valuable skills that will enhance your CV. You can run for a position on the committee, provided you are a member of your group. Students elected through this process will begin their role on 1 August 2026 and serve until 31 July 2027. Could you be the next leader of your group?
