• Support student nurses and student nursing associates academically and professionally through educational events, revision sessions, clinical skills workshops, guest speakers and opportunities to develop knowledge beyond the university curriculum.
• Promote wellbeing, inclusion and peer support by creating a safe, welcoming and respectful environment where nursing students from all fields and backgrounds can build friendships, share experiences and support one another throughout their studies.
• Develop future nursing leaders by encouraging members to participate in leadership opportunities, committee roles, volunteering, research, quality improvement projects and engagement with professional organisations.
• Represent and advocate for nursing students by working collaboratively with the Students’ Union, the University, healthcare organisations and professional bodies so that nursing students’ voices are heard and positive improvements to the student experience are promoted.
• Uphold the values and standards of the nursing profession by promoting professionalism, compassion, evidence-based practice, equality, diversity and inclusion, and behaviour consistent with the standards expected by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) throughout all Society activities.

• Recruit and retain at least 100 active members from Adult, Mental Health, Learning Disability, Children and Young People’s Nursing, MSc Nursing and Nursing Associate programmes by delivering engaging activities and promoting the Society throughout the academic year.

• Organise a minimum of one Society event each month during term time, including clinical skills workshops, guest speakers, revision sessions, careers events, wellbeing activities and social events that support both academic success and student wellbeing.

• Develop collaborative relationships with the University, Students’ Union, local NHS organisations, charities and professional bodies such as the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) and the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), providing members with networking, volunteering and professional development opportunities.

• Create effective mechanisms for gathering member feedback and work with the Students’ Union and University to represent nursing students’ views, helping to improve the overall student experience and ensuring members’ voices are heard.

• Develop clear governance, financial sustainability and succession planning through effective committee processes, compliance with Students’ Union requirements, funding opportunities and a smooth transition to future committee members at the end of the academic year.

• Further Committee and Representative roles will be elected early in the 2026–27 academic year, providing members with opportunities to take on leadership and representative responsibilities.
