The University of Lancashire Dance Club is a well-established sports club within the Students’ Union. The club won the ‘Most Improved Club’ award in 2024 and, most recently 'Club of the Year' in 2025! We run open classes for all abilities, attend and host national competitions, hold shows and events, and arrange social activities all year round for all of our members.
Whether you have danced all your life or you have never danced before, our open classes are a great way to enjoy dancing and meet new people. We currently teach weekly classes in ballet, lyrical, contemporary, heels, jazz, hip hop, pointe, commercial and tap, so there is something for everyone! There is a chance to perform your favourite styles in our end of year showcase, which any member can be involved in!
We also offer the opportunity to be a part of our competition team who compete at interuniversity dance competitions all across the country. In the 2025 competition season, we attended competitions at Leeds Beckett University and Loughborough University and even hosted our first dance competition at the University of Lancashire! Last year, we won a total of 18 trophies across the competition season for our group routines, solos, duets, and achieved additional awards such best team spirit! Competitions are a great way to make new friends, watch incredible performances from other universities and make some amazing memories.
At Dance Club, we also love a good social! Whether it’s a night out, karaoke, quiz night or movie night, there’s an activity for everyone. We love to dress up and collaborate with other sports teams and societies to create memorable nights out. Alongside our weekly Wednesday night socials, we also offer a range of regularly scheduled sober socials, from calm craft evenings to bouncing around a trampoline park!
