Hello, my name is Adam!
You may know me from being on the Policing, Law Enforcement and Investigation course. I am a second-year student, but I’m already so passionate about student life and making sure that students have the best experience while being here.
Alongside my course, I am also a game day assistant for the brilliant Lancashire Rams and a member of the committee for the Socialist Students Society. In this society, I led a campaign fighting sexism and violence against women and supported a campaign aimed to stop the cuts against care homes and day cares.
I also believe that for you to trust me, you should get to know me better personally. I am 20 years old, born in Preston, and love watching football, darts, and boxing. I am an avid gym goer and a massive nerd. My biggest interest is Doctor Who.
I wanted to become a representative for all of you because, even in my short time at the university, I’ve seen so many opportunities to make our student experience even better. I want students to have a voice and feel like they can bring up issues that they face, and one of my focuses is on trying to help students.
I am also focused on equality for all students. I want to continue the work that aims to make sure that international students feel welcome here, by making information more accessible and helping them make friends, so that they don't feel alone. I want to raise awareness of mental health, focusing on student wellbeing and trying to bring in more ways for students to get help. As someone who struggles with their mental health, this is an issue that I am passionate about.
I would love to see Lampworks become an even more widely used space where students can come together, meet new people, and make the most of everything the Students' Union has to offer. I aim to also work closely with the University to help ensure students have access to a consistent and reliable timetable. In addition, I am committed to supporting Alicia in her efforts to make the Students’ Union more transparent, as I strongly believe that students deserve to be informed about the decisions, initiatives, and developments that affect their university experience.
But why should this matter to you? This matters because my action plan is centred around students and aims to make your student experience even better. All decisions that I make will have students at the forefront. I have so many ideas and I am constantly coming up with new ones, as well as being determined and wanting to stand up for your voices, making me fit to be the changemaker that you need.
I would like to thank everyone who voted for me and believed that I can make a change, and I can't wait to get to work and make a difference. I want the Students’ Union to feel like your Union, not the University’s.
