Event Description

Exclusively for newly elected Academic Community Reps, this session will provide everything you need to get started in your role with confidence.

As a representative, you're a vital part of the Students' Union, but understanding how the organisation works and where your role fits within it can make it much easier to create change and support the students you represent.

This session provides an introduction to the Students' Union, exploring who we are, what we do, and how we work with students and the University to improve the student experience. We'll look at the different teams, services and leadership structures within the SU, and explain how Academic Community Reps and Liberation Reps contribute to our mission of building student communities and amplifying student voices.

You'll also learn how to work effectively with SU staff, access support and resources, and make the most of the opportunities available to you as a student leader.

By the end of the session, you'll have a clear understanding of how the Students' Union operates, how your role contributes to wider student representation and community-building, and where to go for support throughout the year.

This session is designed for Academic Community Reps and Liberation Reps who want to better understand how the Students' Union works and how their representative role contributes to creating positive change for students.
