This session is open to all student leaders, including Academic Community Reps, School Reps, Liberation Reps, Course Reps and Society Committee members who want to influence change more effectively.
One of the most important skills for any student leader is knowing who has the power to make decisions. Raising the right issue with the right person at the right time can make the difference between a quick resolution and a frustrating cycle of being passed from team to team.
This session introduces stakeholder mapping, a practical tool used to understand who influences decisions, who holds responsibility for different issues, and who can help move ideas forward. We'll explore how the University and Students' Union are structured, common mistakes student leaders make when escalating issues, and why building relationships with key stakeholders and allies can strengthen your ability to create change.
Whether you're campaigning for improvements, raising student concerns, or delivering a project within your community, this session will help you navigate decision-making structures more effectively and maximise your impact.
By the end of the session, you'll be able to identify the people and groups most relevant to your goals and develop more strategic approaches to influencing change.
